Over the past 19 years, our team has dedicated itself to raising awareness on a broad range of security-related topics, including NATO, EU, regional cooperation, peacekeeping, border control, disaster relief, disinformation, cybersecurity, and crisis hotspots. We have fostered collaboration among the public, media, universities, think tanks, governments, and international partners through a variety of communication, educational, and analytical projects across the Western Balkans.
News production and on-the-job training Since 2019, our dedicated news platform has served as a hub for the region's security journalists, editors, and analysts. This content is syndicated by mainstream media across the region and has become a credible source for on-the-go security information.
Educational campaigns We spearheaded the Sigurnost Balkana debates and social media campaign in BiH in 2020, collaborating with academia and think tanks across several cities. Five years earlier in Montenegro, the First-hand Experience debates and social media campaigns in 2015 were tailored to discuss local security topics and regional experiences with NATO membership.
Workshops In 2021, we organized workshops for journalism students in Serbia, focusing on fact-based security reporting and countering disinformation, in partnership with the Universities of Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Nis.
Publications Our flagship quarterly, the Euro-Atlantic Review (Evroatlantska revija), featured analyses from international entities such as NATO Review, RUSI, Carnegie Policy Briefs, the EU Institute for Security Studies (EUISS), SIPRI, and the Defence Academy of the UK, reaching decision-makers and opinion formers in Serbia and Montenegro.
Security Documentaries projects such as EAI Docs, Great Stories from the Great War, Integration, and have involved producing series of documentary films covering a wide range of defense and security topics from 2010 until 2018. These include exercises, disaster relief, peacekeeping, border control, demining, historical events, and human interest stories.
Research Since 2018, our team has leveraged desk research and marketing intelligence tools to conduct data-driven analyses on the Balkans' information environment challenges and other security topics incudling: Disinformation in the Western Balkans, published by the NATO Review; Information operations in the Western Balkans published by the NATO Science for Peace and Security Ebook Series; Shadow over the Balkans: Disinformation and War in Ukraine, and media landscape studies in Croatia, Albania, and Montenegro, commissioned by the NATO Stratcom CoE. Additionally, we have conducted in-depth analyses such as The War in Ukraine: An Analysis of Armament Dynamics.
In collaboration with the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade, the Faculty of Media and Communications in Belgrade, the Faculty of Philosophy in Nis, and the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad, and with support from the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade, we have initiated the Security Reporting workshop project for journalism students. The workshop covered key security issues in the region, sourcing factual information, investigative journalism, reporting from crisis hotspots through case studies from the Balkans and the Middle East, writing articles for digital media, creating social media posts, producing TV segments, and other aspects of multiplatform journalism.
The workshop instructors include Aleksandar Radic and Daniel Sunter, editors at the Balkan Security Network; Vojkan Kostic, chief editor at Beta news agency and editor at the Balkan Security Network; Goran Janicevic, editor of the TV show Dozvolite; Igor Tabak, editor of the Obris portal from Croatia; Anton Tunja, a security expert and retired colonel from Slovenia; Predrag Obrenovic, PhD, a research scientist at the European Defendology Center from Banja Luka; along with other guest lecturers.
